Is your new shower, not sparkly anymore?
Shower glass gets dirty relatively quickly because of our hard water, which is high in minerals such as calcium and magnesium that appear when water comes in contact with limestone or chalk deposits and is left to dry. Hard water and soapy build-up allowed to accumulate on glass shower surfaces can cause etching and permanently damage the glass. When combined with chemical cleaners the glass shower doors start to get a cloudy look, these factors may be the culprit.
Cleaning the bathroom is often a household chore that people loathe. Squeegeeing shower glass after use assists with moving the water particles to reduce hard-water stains, mineral build-up and is great unless you’re short on time, patience, energy or all of the above.
Dirty shower glass can make an otherwise clean bathroom look dirty. Unfortunately, cleaning shower glass isn’t as easy as grabbing a soapy sponge or glass cleaner and a cloth.
Cleaning will eliminate build-up, but it will not reverse etching, which is why the first and best defence is to prevent it from happening by wiping down the shower after each use with either a squeegee or a microfibre cloth or the best is to have protection on your glass making the glass ‘non-stick’, like a Teflon pan.
